The benefits of these programs is it doesn't matter what your hand writing is like or spelling by the time you have processed though Word it should be looking good. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Microsoft EXCEL: Spreadsheets are often used to store financial data. Formulas and functions that are used on this type of data include: - Performing basic mathematical operations such as summing columns and rows of figures
- Finding values such as profit and loss
- Finding the average, maximum, minimum values in a specified range of data
- Calculations for things
Like Word, Excel can also be used for basic, intermediate to advanced users. I always had issues with math's. I thought having problems put on the board or in a work book to get answers required intelligence, a ruler, pencil and eraser along with a protractor set and calculator. Then things changed we went over to "metric conversions" so you purchased things by the Kilogram not by the pound and today we find we need computers to complete maths and graphs. So what you now need to know to do mathematical tasks is how to use a computer and navigate around the tool bars. Excel formulas are used for calculations and usually have data contained in other cells. The electronic spreadsheets include a number of "built in formulas" used for common tasks which are also known as 'functions". Other uses for Excel are producing graphs or charting data to assist in reviewing trends or filtering and sorting to help find that specific information you are looking for . The information gathered in a spreadsheet can easily be Incorporated into electronic presentations, such as power point, your web page, or you can print off your information in a report form, even email it to your accounts department etc. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Microsoft OUTLOOK: This has replaced the manual way of corresponding through the post. The Mail option allows you to send, receive and manage your email messages. Messages can be sent to other users on your network, or to external contacts with a valid email address, and can include file attachments, shortcuts and hyperlinks to web pages. This function can also allow you to have options to see if people have received your mail or if they have opened or read it. I personally love this way of sending out mail now I am use to using it. It also stores information about who you sent mail to, when, and if you were making it a priority. But don’t worry I have experienced a time when my “electronic mail” has been lost in “cyber space”. Or has been placed in the addressees “junk mail” box. CALENDAR :This function is the equivalent to the “Dairy” which has been getting phased out. It is used to keep track of all your appointments and can assist to plan meetings with other Outlook users. This function can be used to record appointments, events and important dates such as birthdays. With business it can be used to schedule and track meetings with other users at a time convenient to all involved. It can also get people to advise if appointments are suitable or not. This function you can also authorise for other people to have access to. If you give authority for access you can also decide if they have permission to make changes to it or see it as a “read only”. Most administration staff like it because they can open your diary up to schedule appointments for you or to see where you are on a daily basis. It automatically reminds you of upcoming appointments. CONTACTS : This function replaces the manual way of keeping your contacts stored in a box on your desk or “card file holder”. It can be use to maintain address information for all internal and external contacts. The contact list can be used to send messages to contacts, view contact web pages, view maps to the contact's place of work and to record important contact dates such as birthdays. MOTIVATIONAL QUOTES: Don't judge those who try and fail, judge those who fail to try A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty Failure is taking the path that everyone else does, success is making your own path |
